The expansion of the SBDCs throughout Latin America started in Mexico in 2003 through a Cooperative Agreement with the Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara funded by TIES USAID Mexico. As a result of this project, which ended in September 2009, the Mexican Association of SBDCs (AMCDPE) was founded and accreditation standards were developed for the certification of the centers. To date, the SBDC network has over 100 centers. During the 2011-2013 period, the network assisted 7,963 and trained over 38,535 businesses that created and sustained 6,448 jobs.
