The Tunisia SME Project is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Volunteers for Economic Growth Alliance (VEGA), and is being implemented by the International Executive Service Corps (IESC) in partnership with the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). The Tunisia SME Project works to strengthen Tunisia’s economic competitiveness and its prospects for sustained growth by promoting greater involvement of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in trade and investment related activities. This objective is achieved by supporting small business development centers (SBDCs) in Tunisia and by providing technical assistance to export-ready or near export-ready SMEs through the trade platform SBDCGlobal.com. The purpose is to train and certify Tunisian SME counselors in the small business development center (SBDC) model in order to improve SME growth, provide training and employment, and create sustainable linkages between Tunisian Centres d’Affaires and SBDCs in the United States.
